About the scholarship
The Susan McGraw Scholarship is need-based and is available only to individuals or family members living within a Habitat community in Berthoud, Fort Collins, or Loveland and who seek to further their education to enhance their employment prospects. The scholarship is open to students pursuing any kind of secondary education including four-year degrees, two-year degrees, trade schools, single classes, etc. Eligible applicants may receive scholarships for educational, training, or certification programs at accredited institutions, furthering Susan McGraw’s legacy of fostering education and opportunity within the community.

Number of awards: 3
Scholarship awards are one-time awards. The amount awarded to a selected recipient may be used for the cost of attendance. All scholarships will be paid directly to the recipient’s school and must be used for the upcoming academic year. Award disbursement is contingent upon the outside scholarship policies of a recipient’s college, trade or technical school or university.

About Susan McGraw
This scholarship is a tribute to the memory of Susan McGraw, a dedicated educator with a strong passion for empowering individuals through education. Susan’s commitment to helping people find a better path in life through learning was evident throughout her career. Before becoming a mother to her two daughters, she taught at the middle school level. Later, after raising her children, she served as an Assistant Director at Sylvan Learning Center for a decade. Although she retired before relocating to Colorado in 2005, her family desired to ensure that her enthusiasm for education and community impact continued to thrive.
“Habitat for Humanity has made it possible for me to survive and thrive by helping me get into my dream home. Now they are helping me to get my dream job. This scholarship will make a huge difference in my life. I have been blessed to have the incredible Habitat for Humanity in my life. If not for Loveland Habitat for Humanity I would not be able to afford to live in Loveland anymore. I have worked so hard, but the cost of living seems to far exceed any earnings I can bring in. When I made the decision to further my education, I was not sure how I would achieve this. The stress was unbelievable, but I knew that it would be all worth it in the end. As a pre-nursing student at Aims Community College in Greeley, I can’t wait to further my medical career and help so many more patients in the future. This scholarship helps me get one step closer and lessens the stress a bit more. Thank you so much for believing in my potential. Thank you so much for your generosity. Thank you so much for being my ultimate safety net and giving me the chance to meet my full potential.
